List of surnames
This database contains slightly more than 100,000 surname variations. There are surnames that have only one spelling each, however, most of the surnames have alternative spellings, too. I thrive to set up a soundex system and a clearing house to manage spelling alternatives conveniently. Until this can be done, you might want to browse through the list and find alternative spellings for the surname(s) you are interested in. This can be fun! Or, if you think I could be more effective in this investigation, drop me an email and I will return to you with a list of possible spelling variations. I do this for free for anyone, not only for subscribers: supportATradixindex.com.

Maps showing information from the national census of Hungary in 1900
Although these maps show the situation a decade later than our directory, they can be used with benefit to assess the ratio of working population included in the 1891 directory, broken down to district levels of counties. These maps were published in the following book:
A magyar szent korona országainak 1900. évi népszámlálása. Tizedik rész: Végeredmények összefoglalása / ... szerkeszti és kiadja a Magyar Kir. Központi Statisztikai Hivatal. - Budapest : Athenaeum, 1909. - X, [2], 331 p., [46] t. - (Magyar statisztikai közlemények. Új sorozat ; 27. kötet)
[The national census of the countries of the Holy Hungarian Crown in 1900. Part 10: Summary of results. / ed. and publ. by the Royal Central Statistical Office of Hungary. - Budapest : Athnenaeum, 1909. - X, [2], 331 p., [46] t. - (Hungarian statistical publications. New series ; vol. 27)]

Some of these maps have been displayed on my Radix site.
