1. New appearance for RadixIndex
To help better utilization of the RadixIndex resources, the site has been redesigned and somewhat consolidated. One should not expect stunning, flashy graphic, instead, it is mainly the navigation what has been improved by adding a menu bar, a probably long missed tool, to pages.
2. New tool for searching: surname index
The growing number of databases made it necessary to add a utility that would enable the search in the master index of surnames. Using this one can save the efforts of going deep into every database to find out if it has records pertaining to the researched surname. Besides, this tool has a plus over other searches at the site, as it gives not region, county names associated surnames, but it has exact place names, as their appear in records:

The planned geographical index will provide similar advantages to those who do their research by places or regions.
3. New database: railway directory
The processing of the 1911 Hungarian railway almanac and directory created a new database. This database contains information about 56,000 employees of the railways in Hungary, and some more persons of shipping companies. Researchers can get the names, organizational units, positions and payment classes for these people. Appended to the database are the organizational structure of the Hungarian railways and also a map depicting the railway lines. The courtesy of friends at Talma Publisher ( http://www.talmamedia.com ) helped me to make this map available on the site. Thanks go to them for their kindness! This new railway directory is in the public domain until December 15, 2002. After this date only RadixIndex subscribers will be able to retrieve records from it. Please note that the original publication is written in Hungarian:

4. New database: Timisoara city directory
The other new database making its debute these days is the Timisoara city directory 1910, which uses the printed city directory as its source. This collection has 6,500 inhabitants with their names, professions and addresses. Similarly to the railway directory, the city directory, too, is open to anyone until December 15, 2002. And also, this publication was written in Hungarian:

5. Additions to existing data collections
The RadixIndex School Reports collection received 10,000 records, while the RadixRef database got a 600 records addition during October. More to be added to both databases during November.
